Art meets science and technology in a free 1-on-1 interview series open to the public, that provides a wide range of topics in order to inspire and inform, touching our everyday lives. Saturday Evening Talks enforces Qolony’s mission of promoting art & science within Romania and abroad. During our weekly talks, artists, cultural institutions, the scientific community, as well as the public, are encouraged to discover innovative technologies and research methods and how these can be activated outside their regular scope, via artistic interpretation.


Saturday Evening Talks guests are experts in their field, national and/or international, sharing their particular experience in making the discussion topics exciting and welcoming for audiences of all ages and backgrounds.


We are constantly looking for fascinating stories and projects, covering multiple areas of interest:

Artists working with new media, who integrate science and technology into their approach

Galleries and curators, who contextualize alternative artistic practices within the art market

Scientists and theorists, who shed light over the cutting-edge directions of contemporary research & art

Ciprian Ciuclea (b. 1976 in Timisoara) is a visual artist based in Bucharest. He is interested in interdisciplinary projects that focus mainly on ...
the conceptual features of reception. The themes he explores are closely related to the social aspects of communication, interpretation of messages, astrophysics and theoretical physics, contemplation and supervision, placed in relation to the scientific aspects of human existence.

He performed and exhibited worldwide including Saitama Modern Art Museum (JP), Engramme, Quebec (CAN), Platforma-National Museum of Contemporary Art Bucharest (RO), Brukenthal National Museum, Sibiu (RO), D. Manuel Palace, Evora (PT) or alternative spaces such as Hospital de Santiago, Cuenca (ES), Forte Marghera, Venice (IT).

Ciprian Ciuclea is the director of IEEB (International Experimental Engraving Biennial in Bucharest), member of International Biennial Association (IBA), president of Experimental Project Association for Contemporary Art and founding member of Romanian Society for Ophthalmogenetics - SROGEN. He has a PhD in visual arts at the National University of Arts in Bucharest with a theme on the optical interpretation of mediated reality through technology.
